Lagu-Lagu Disco Sepanjang Tahun 80-an
Musik di tahun 80-an ! sepertinya tak kenal kata habis untuk selalu dibahas. Bagi generasi 70-an merasakan nikmatnya lagu disco -bisa jadi - berasal dari lantunan beat Stayin Alive milik Bee Gees atau Dancing Queen -ABBA, lagu yang berasal dari era tahun 70-an akhir. Dan buat kebanyakan remaja 80-an, sensasi dance music itu benar-benar nyata dirasakan mungkin justru datang dari milik Michael Jackson mana kala album Thriller membombastis panggung pop musik dunia saat itu. Jika dilihat masa awal tahun 80-an, trend lagu-lagu disco (pop-disco) penuh dengan warna aliran. Mulai dari R&B, lagu-lagu break-dance, hingga Madonna yang merajai top chart mancanegara.
Diluar Pop-disco, lagu-lagu disco dibanjiri oleh aliran Synthesizer-pop, seperti New Order, Yazoo, Erasure ataupun sekelas Bananarama. Namun, sampai dengan pertengahan 80-an format lagu-lagu disco sedikit bergeser, trend pasar mengarah ke italian-disco dan model lagu-lagu yang seirama dengan Modern Talking; atau yang disebut dengan istilah euro-dance-pops.
Menuju akhir tahun 80-an trend-lagu berubah drastis. Dimulai dari melambungnya popularitas Janet Jackson dan kemudian musik Hip-hop mengambil alih. Sejumlah nama-nama 'baru' terus bermunculan : Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Neneh Cherry, MC Hammer, Tone Loc. LL cool J, Soul II Soul, duo heboh lip-sync ' Milli Vanilli', Vanila Ice dan seterusnya, menjadikan hip-hop semakin dominan dan berlanjut terus hingga era tahun 90-an.
